MAIDSTONE SCHOOL PUPILS NAME NEW PORTHAVEN CARE HOME

Pupils from Valley Invicta Primary School at East Borough have won a competition to name the beautiful new Porthaven Care Home located in Eclipse Park on Sittingbourne Road.

The winning name, ‘Cavell Park’, was submitted by pupils Ella and Isobel. They were inspired by nurse Edith Cavell, who won the ‘Maidstone Medal’ for her service to the town during their 1897 typhoid epidemic. Ella and Isobel are pictured here (right) with Lara and Tida, the runners-up, and their Headmistress Carole Bacon. The school received a £500 cheque from Porthaven Care Homes for their participation and all of the pupils who submitted an entry to the competition were awarded a certificate. Ella, Isobel, Lara, and Tida also won gift vouchers for their submissions.

Cavell Park Care Home is the newest addition to the award-winning Porthaven group of care homes, and will provide 24-hour residential, nursing, and dementia care for residents with a range of different needs.

Our show suites will be available to browse in early 2023, with the home due to open later in the year. Every resident living at this state-of-the-art care home will benefit from a generously appointed bedroom, including an en suite wetroom. Cavell Park Care Home has been thoughtfully designed to not only allow for the delivery of excellent care but to ensure that our residents can live well in beautiful surroundings with access to many different areas for socialising or relaxing as they so choose. The care home features a variety of dining areas, a café, a hairdressing salon and nail bar, a cinema, and even a private dining room where families can celebrate special occasions together.
Cavell Park Care Home residents will also have access to a wide-ranging programme of events and activities through Porthaven’s award-winning Activities and Wellbeing framework. From daily activities and events to exercise classes, hobbies, social interest groups, and outings in our minibus, there will be something for everyone.
