At Porthaven Care Homes, food has always been one of the pillars of quality we pride ourselves upon. Our chefs play a key part in the health and wellbeing of our residents and so we ensure they are trained well and have a constant source of inspiration to create exceptional dish after exceptional dish. Over the past six months, we have had the great privilege of working with celebrated chef, restaurateur, and food writer, Mark Hix MBE. Our chefs have had the opportunity to be mentored by Mark on several occasions and most recently, our Head Chefs from Savernake View, Wiltshire Heights, Falkland Grange, and Hartfield House were fortunate enough to be invited to spend a day with Mark doing something he is passionate about – foraging. After a busy day, they were honoured to be able to cook and eat the fruits of their foraging labour, learning from Mark as they went along.
