News & Events at Astbury Mere

Our big achievement!

We are incredibly proud to announce that our home has achieved Veteran Friendly Accreditation! To celebrate this special milestone, we hosted a wonderful afternoon party with our residents, guests and members of the local community. We were honoured to be joined by Deputy Mayor Rob and his lovely wife Helen, Rich from Cheshire East, our Armed Forces Lead, Alan from the Royal British Legion, and Phil and Mark from the Legion Riders, who made quite an entrance arriving on two magnificent motorcycles!

The celebrations continued with a fantastic performance from Rebecca Done, who entertained everyone with a selection of wartime classics. It was wonderful to see our veterans, residents, families, and guests singing along, sharing memories, and getting involved throughout the afternoon. Achieving Veteran Friendly Accreditation reflects our ongoing commitment to recognising, supporting and celebrating the service and sacrifices of veterans living within our home and across our local community.

We believe it is vital that those who have served our country feel valued, respected, and connected, and we are proud to play our part in ensuring their stories, experiences, and contributions are never forgotten. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so memorable. Together, we continue to honour and support our veterans, today and every day.

Sweet memories.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Dagfields Crafts & Antiques, where they shared a lovely brew, enjoyed some tasty treats and spent time exploring the many precious pre-loved treasures on display.

Looking through antiques and familiar items from years gone by can be incredibly beneficial for people living with dementia, helping to spark memories, encourage conversation, and create feelings of comfort and connection. Reminiscing activities like these can support wellbeing, reduce anxiety, and bring so much joy through shared stories and experiences.

Trips out into the community are so important, providing meaningful engagement, social interaction, and opportunities to make new memories together.

Admin appreciation day!

We are shining a well-deserved spotlight on our incredible Admin Team—the people who keep everything running like clockwork behind the scenes (and at the front desk too!)

From the warm smiles that greet every guest who walks through our doors, to the endless support they provide to our residents and their families, their role is truly at the heart of our home. They’re the organisers, the problem-solvers, the friendly faces, and the calm in the busy moments—making sure our team is supported and everything runs smoothly every day.

Your hard work, dedication, and attention to detail never go unnoticed. You are such an important part of what makes our home so special, and we are so grateful for everything you do.
