News & Events at Prestbury House

Joie de vivre!

In an effort to promote life-long learning and our residents’ wellbeing, we have recently introduced a new regular French class led by Liz from Languagility, with the aim being to stimulate minds, encourage personal development and cultivate an atmosphere of joy and discovery. Fuelled by Liz’s contagious enthusiasm, each session is a playful and engaging learning experience, and through a combination of interactive exercises, roleplaying games, music and informal conversations, our residents are encouraged to explore the beauty and richness of the French language whilst also developing their linguistic skills. Through these life-long learning opportunities, we are able to nurture the potential and curiosity of our residents, as we believe that there is no limit to what one can learn and each day is a new chance to grow, thrive and marvel at the wonders of the world around us!

Amazing animal friendships

Here at Prestbury House, we are regularly visited by our friends from Inspiring Animal Therapy, who always bring a smile to our faces. Led by dynamic duo Lilo and Nellie the dachshunds, the team always bring with them a number of feathered friends and, most recently, two lovely baby lambs. With their tails wagging, Lilo and Nellie spread love and laughter wherever they go and are always ready for a good cuddle. The chickens are always a great source of amusement, whether they’re pecking in search of treats or ruffling their feathers as they settle down for some attention! As for the lambs, it has been a joy for us all to get the opportunity to bottle-feed these sweet creatures and watch them find their footing as they bound about our home. For many of our residents, these visits spark memories of growing up around these animals, which promotes plenty of interesting conversations as well as bringing an extra sense of comfort and companionship. The joy found in the presence of these remarkable animals never fails to amaze us, and we are incredibly grateful to the team at Inspiring Animal Therapy for their time.

In July our residents enjoyed a special visit from the Manchester Historic Vehicle Club, who brought with them a number of fantastic cars for us to look at. This is the third year that we have held a car show at our home, and it is truly a one-of-a-kind event that our residents and team members alike look forward to. The cars always bring back many fond memories, and this is particularly the case for our lovely resident John, who was a part of the MHV Club for many years!
