To mark National Police Week in May, we spent some time speaking to our resident Greta about her time in the Worcestershire Constabulary. Early on in life, Greta decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and join the police force and, after some time, interviewed for the Worcestershire Constabulary. However, before Greta was offered the position the chief constable had to request permission from the home secretary to hire her as she was only twenty years old! At the time police officers could not marry businessmen due to the risk of corruption, so after four years of handling family cases and driving prisoners to jail Greta left the constabulary to marry her husband, who was a local businessman.
