With the recent passing of Her Majesty the Queen, our resident Marjorie has been reflecting on when she and her son David met Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace in 2013. David was invited to meet the Queen after he won her ‘Award for Enterprise’, which he received for his work with international trade. The rules stated that winners were allowed to invite one guest who had been responsible for helping them win the award. Often this would be a sales or export manager, however David argued that ‘without mum, there would be no company and no award’. The committee agreed and so they attended the event together. David commented that ‘The Queen was everything anyone had ever said about her – warm, friendly, and keen to know if we were enjoying ourselves. This was a day with my queen Marjorie and our Queen Elizabeth II that I will never forget.’
