What types of care are available?
All of our Porthaven care homes are fully equipped and trained to provide all types of care requirements.
Residential Care
Residential care can be a suitable option for older people when living alone begins to feel isolating or when everyday household tasks become increasingly difficult to manage.
Our approach to residential care focuses on enhancing each resident’s quality of life. We create warm, comfortable and homely surroundings, while tailoring care, activities and other services to the individual needs, preferences and wishes of every person who lives with us.
Nursing Care
Every Porthaven home has a team of highly trained and dedicated professionals available 24 hours a day, throughout the year, to provide nursing care support whenever it is required. We care for people with a broad range of health needs, from those who require more assistance than can be safely provided at home to individuals with specialist nursing requirements associated with conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease or multiple sclerosis.
Dementia & Alzheimer’s Care
As the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia continues to grow, every Porthaven home includes a dedicated floor or floors where residents can receive specialist dementia care 24 hours a day.
Our care teams have a strong understanding of the different ways dementia can affect each individual. Whether a resident is experiencing memory loss, communication difficulties, falls, behavioural changes or other symptoms, we support them with patience, kindness and reassurance throughout every stage of their journey.
Respite Care / Short Term Stays
Supporting a loved one can be deeply fulfilling, but it can also place considerable emotional and physical demands on a carer. Taking time to rest, recover or attend to other responsibilities is important, and our respite care service is designed to provide that opportunity.
At Porthaven, we offer short-term stays that allow carers to take a well-earned break, while their loved one continues to receive high-quality support in a safe, comfortable and welcoming setting.
