Residential Care
Residential care is often chosen by older people and their families when living at home may be lonely or the chores of daily living may be becoming too difficult to manage.
Our approach to providing residential care is to improve the quality of life for our residents by creating lovely, comfortable, homely surroundings, and planning care, activities and other services around each and every resident’s needs and wishes.
Nursing Care
In every Porthaven home, highly trained and dedicated staff are on hand 24 hours every day of the year to provide nursing care support to our residents. We are able to care for people with a wide range of health needs from those who may need more care than can be properly provided in their own home, through to people with specialist nursing needs due to conditions such as Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease or multiple sclerosis.
Dementia & Alzheimer’s Care
The incidence of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia are increasing, which is why every Porthaven home has a dedicated floor or floors, providing 24 hour specialist care for our residents who are living with dementia.
Our care staff understand the different types of dementia well. Whether experiencing memory loss, falls, communication difficulties, behavioural changes or other symptoms, we gently accompany our residents on their journey whilst being encouraging, supporting and reassuring at all times with our specialist dementia care.
Respite Care / Short Term Stays
Caring for a loved one can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with significant emotional and physical demands. Everyone deserves time to rest, recharge, or focus on other priorities, and that is where our respite care can help.
